One night of quarantine in Citadines

December 2 – 3, 2020

Oyen booked me a large room in Citadines in Ortigas Avenue for a one-night stay. This is the same hotel where she and Edmund stayed at during their respective one day quarantine.

I pronounced Citadines as si-ta-di-nes,  The van driver pronounced it as si-ta-dayns.   The reception said “welcome to sitadins.

Citadines

The van dropped me off at the short driveway with harang and left my boxes and luggage outside which made me worried they could be stolen.

I dragged the white carry on luggage up to the apartment- hotel.  The rest of my things were delivered to my room after an hour.

Oyen and Edmund sent me a big care package as if I would be staying here for several days.  They sent me more than a kilo of the the freshest and sweetest California grapes.  I thought I would never be able to finish them but I did.  He was right.  There would be nothing to do but eat.
A container with various fruits including apple, grapes, mango, and oranges.

A gift set featuring chocolates and fresh fruits on a table.
Para akong may sari-sari store.
A variety of snacks and drinks arranged on a table.
I called the front desk to ask if they would serve me breakfast,  hindi daw, bukas pa.  It was 7 am and I expected to have breakfast.  After another call, they said yes indeed, they would be serving me breakfast.  Ay salamat.
Indian thali with rice, dal, roti, and watermelon.
Lunch
A meal tray with rice, fried chicken, and stir-fried vegetables.
I slept for several hours and by mid-afyernoon my swab test result was already in.   Buti na lang negative.   I may check out and go home now but I chose to stay here and sleep.   Brown out daw sa village namin for two or three hours.

I went back to bed and took a nap.  When I woke up at pm I was still feeling very sleepy.  I tried to stay up till dinner time.  I was hoping the food tray would arrive earlier, like 6:30 pm so I could go back to sleep.  I opened the door and the chair was empty.  I gave the operator a call to ask what time they will deliver my food.  She said it’s coming   7:15 pm I called again, 7:30,  7:45 pm,  8 pm to follow up.  The operator said the food trays have just arrived and my food is on its way to my room.  8:15 pm wala pa.  I called again, and again,  I kept opening the door to check if my food was already sitting on the chair.  9 PM my food hasn’t arrived.  The operator said nadeliver na daw yung first batch, nagpahabol pa sila!!!  I didn’t want to get mad,  I just wanted to eat so I could go to sleep.  It’s 9 pm!   I requested if they could prioritize me because it’s already 9 pm.  Finally my food arrived at 9:15 pm, too early for midnight snack.
Citadines food

My breakfast arrived around  7:30 am.  No contact food service.
Chair with a book and tissue box in a modern room corner.
I am guessing that the food trays come from a canteen or supplier contracted by Citadines. It’s more economical that way.
A bento box with rice, refried beans, scrambled eggs, and a creamy sauce.
Edmund was picking me up at 11 am. I used the extra time to gather the used towels and placed them all in one corner. I also picked up all the kalat. I am like this, when I check out of a hotel, I tidy it up a bit. I don’t leave the room messy.
Cozy hotel room with a neatly made bed and soft lighting.
I emailed a copy of my negative test result to the hotel’s front desk.  Sitaden naman ang pag pronounce nya,

I checked out at 10:45 am.
Modern hotel lobby with festive Christmas decor and large windows.
I was surprised when I saw how much the cost of airport pick up was— P2,950 plus tax, service charge, plus I gave a substantial tip.  I thought mga P1,50o lang.

Teka,  parang ang daming vat and service charge.

Citadines receipt

I went out through the building’s back door.  I chanced upon the food delivery.  Sabi ko na nga ba,  my guess was right.
Plastic bags filled with white powder labeled 'Pasta de Coca' on a table.
