I like the Hainanese chicken rice of Dennis. He’s always at the food tiangge Mercato on weekends. His is the one that’s closest to the Singaporean version of Hainanese. I bought 2 orders with rice P200/ order. He takes orders for whole chicken. His rice is also delicious, even without ulam, masarap din.
You can also order organic chicken but of course it’s more costly.
There are also a lot of delicious food one could get.
I did not see RJ LEDESMA today. He’s the “punong abala” in Mercato.
I bought 300 gms of Roast Beef x P150 = P450.00
Bale Butung also has a spot here. They sell the tortilla with shredded bagnet. I don’t know how they call this, eto yung lechon nila.
I bought a pack of green organic tomatoes for P110.00
They sell homemade ravioli. Gustong-gusto kong bumili kanina but I just found their portions too little for the price. The least expensive is spinach with cream ravioli 6 pieces for P275. I looked at the 6 tiny pieces, parang sobrang mahal.
The blue tables are for diners.
I bought a tray of california maki P150. After I have paid and the guy has wrapped it, at saka ako nag food taste, hmmm, medyo…..
I asked the tindero, eto daw ay… teka nalimutan ko…. (isip isip)..
I think these are called isaw or kwek-kwek. I am not sure.
The first time I bought from this juice stall, I asked several times if they put sugar. They assured me that there’s no sugar. I bought a glass of melon juice, I found it very sweet. The lady said, the fruit is really sweet. Ah okay.
Today, before buying, I asked the female sales lady if there’s sugar, she said pure juice NO SUGAR ADDED. I had doubts so I rephrased my question
“Alin dito ang may asukal?” She started pointing at practically all, except the watermelon jar. Okay, isa nga. Then, she said “ahhhchooooo”. She used her hand to cover her mouth, then she’s going to use that to give me the drink?
Oh no no no no, especially that last night Edmund and I watched the movie CONTAGION starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, etc.
I moved to the sides and asked this guy instead to give me the drink.
I couldn’t resist this crispy fried liempo they call Bagwang. I paid P140 for the minimum order. Sarap pero super loaded with cholesterol.
Nakilabutan ako when I saw this giant half-cooked tsitsarong bulaklak, super cholest.
So many people were buying this. Soft flour colored with atswete, with some fillings, then fried.

Mochiko owner, Odette, makes a killing selling Ice cream wrapped in mochi. Our favorite is the Azuki or red bean flavor. The size has considerably gotten smaller. P70 each ball.

As of this writing, these stuff have already disappeared into our stomachs.
Mercato is located beside Home Depot at the Fort. They are open on weekends, mornings up to 2 pm.
