(Rewind to July. I will eventually move all the delayed posts to July)
Kuya Junior didn’t come to the Father’s Day dinner held at Kuya Romy’s house in Hayward. We were told that he’s having some back problems and finds it difficult to drive long and far. He lives in Fair Oaks, Sacramento, a good two hours drive from Hayward. I didn’t want to come home without seeing him so we drove to Sacramento instead and visited him at his house.
Let me show you their house:
Kuya and Ate Linda live in this custom 4 bedroom house in Sacramento. Three of the rooms are now devoid of furnishings because their sons now have their own places and brought their beds with them.
That’s their across- the- street neighbor. All the houses around here are custom-made. They’re not pare-pareho like in typical California heighborhoods.
Kuya Junior was the one who opened the door when we arrived.
Picturan ko nga sarili ko. She forgot to smile
Ate Linda’s wall clock has been with them for twenty years or so.
Five sons, 3 were made in the Philippines, 2 were assembled in the USA.
Kuya Junior was a physician at Kaiser Permanente
First born, Dr. Ricardo C. Tan III graduated from University of the East’s medical school
4th born, Randy is a very successful business consultant currently based in Washington, DC.
Kuya’s diploma from the University of Santo Tomas (UST)
Their house sits on a half-acre lot with giant oak trees.

Atty. Ryan Tan is trying to restore this vintage car. It doesn’t look encouraging.
