Thousands of Pres. Trump’s supporters marched to the US Capitol to stop the counting of the ballots and to prevent Vice President Mike Pence from declaring Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as the winners of the recently concluded presidential election. It’s sad that millions of American’s were misled into believing that the election was rigged.
Edmund and I watched in disbelief while thousands of white Americans rallied around the Capitol, shouting, some echoing what Pres. Donald Trump said in his Tweets and speeches. They stormed their country’s icon of democracy, scaling its walls, destroying doors, windows, vandalizing offices. We watched in horror while these men and women shouted invectives and kicked and hit police officers.
We couldn’t believe what we were seeing. Is this the United States of America? The world leader in peace and order, respect for human rights, where democracy is at the core of their nation’s being?
What happened?
America is inder attack by Americans.
