My love for Capodimonte started twenty years ago. I first saw it in the US at a gifts and housewares trade fair in San Francisco. An Italian importer had a large booth showing hundreds of this Italian-made ceramic vases, figurines, lamps, fruit baskets, mirrors with intricate flowers.

I also met the manufacturers When my sister and I attended the International Furniture and Furnishings Fair in Frankfurt, Germany two decades ago.

Capodimonte porcelain got its inspiration from the Meissen porcelain which is made of fine porcelain. You’ll find many Capodimonte factories in Naples, Italy which are mostly family owned.

Aileen and I own more than a dozen pieces each. Hers probably are in better conditions because she doesn’t have household helpers that knock her decors off.

My pieces have missing leaves, petals. Some of my figurines have half-legs and no hands. Some are completely broken. Some have been thrown away because they’re beyond repair.

I bought a lot of Mighty Bond glue last week. I will try to save a broken Capodimonte mirror frame.

I really like this piece but sad to say, it could be difficult to salvage but I would still try.

i am not very hopeful because this piece is very heavy. The glue might not be able to hold it together.

Nakakahinayang. I stopped buying Capodimonte porcelain at least 15 years ago. Madali kasing mabasag.

The ones that I see now in stores are made in China. You have to know what a real one looks like because there are many imitations in the market.
