Chickens, PAL, Balikbayan boxes, Hot Meals

1. While I am away my husband takes care of my chickens. I hope to see Chickie and Currie this weekend or early next week depending on my energy level. Edmund said one chicken is brownish white and smaller than the other chickens but bigger than Chickie. He suspects that the mom is not Chickie but rather a native brown hen. Currie taksil ka ha.

2. Sobra na akong na stress dyan sa PAL. I’ll just bite the bullet and pay the re-booking fees. Ayaw ko na sa kanila.

Next time I’ll take Cathay Pacific although the flight is longer by 4 long hours plus the extra waiting at the airport because it’s not a direct flight to Los Angeles. It’s via HK.

3. I am bringing home one balikbayan box and one big maleta. They are full and heavy. Naku yung inflatable Santa Claus lang na binili ni Oyen ay 25 lbs na. I wanted to make sure I don’t exceed the allowable weight limit so I weighed the items muna one by one and added the total so I don’t go beyond 50 lbs. I don’t want to pay $150 excess baggage fee.

I have 30 years of experience packing balikbayan boxes. I can do this.

Edmund McGyver Yee invented this weighing cylinder exclusively for balikbayan boxes. It’s as tall as he and requires skill and precision.

Balancing act, kayang-kaya ko ito. I bought 12 pieces of dinner plates with drawings of Turkey for Thanksgiving dinner sana. They are sooo heavy. Iwan na lang ito.

4. I miss hot meals. I cooked sinigang na hipon, pork and rice for my dinner tonight. I ran out of sinigang mix so I picked some kalamansi from the backyard but there were not enough fruits this season. The sinigang didn’t taste like sinigang because the soup was not sour.

The green leaves are spinach.
