The dates of Oyen’s wedding set for next year, including the formal engagement ceremony day on October 5 were chosen based on the Chinese calendar, the date and hour when Oyen and Derrick were born, respectively. Those dates were believed to be their most auspicious wedding dates.

Edmund and I were not believers of consulting astrologers, feng shui masters, or temple priests, which is an important Chinese culture.

There are a lot of things in our lives that we don’t get to pick the date, like in most cases the day we were born. The day we pledged our love for each other (boyfriend-girlfriend), school graduation, etc.

When Edmund and I were choosing a date for our wedding, I just looked at the calendar and picked a date. The same holds true when we are opening or launching a business or building a house, moving to a new location, or celebrating something. We just pick a date.

We just go on with our lives believing, hoping, praying, that everything would be fine.
