Many years ago, when I was still running Trade Development Publishing, we had a young client who had a little crush on me (modesty aside). Since he’s been our client for sometime and has actually become our friends, I agreed to have lunch with him at Dulcinea in Robinson’s Galleria which was very close to our office then. He has brought some of my staff for merienda twice in the past hindi ako nakasama. He’s been inviting me for about a year or so, so okay. I chose the restaurant for its proximity to our office.
So we were already seated at Dulcinea in Galleria staring at the menu book:
As a matter of consideration, I didn’t want to order first until he ordered his own meal so I could gauge his readiness, preparedness to pay or his appetite.
B—- O, Anne, anong gusto mo? order ka lang ha?
ME– E, ikaw, anong order mo?
B— Busog pa’ko eh.
Me (Huh?)
B—– Basta Anne, orderin mo ang gusto mo ha?
ME (?)- (I was confused, kala ko nag imbita sya mag lunch, tapos kumain na pala. Grabe. I kept on staring at the menu. I didn’t know what to do.)
B—– Anne, wag kang mahiya ha, basta kain ka lang, SKY IS THE LIMIT.
Me (woo)
ME— Anong order mo?
ME—- Anong order mo?
B—— Churros na lang siguro. Kasi busog pa talaga ako.
(Churros! dessert ko lang yun. Oh My, I’m starving, I skipped breakfast. Gutom na gutom talaga ako. Medyo hilo na ‘ko)
Me—- Anong order mo na nga?
B—— sige, order ako Churros na lang. Ikaw Anne?
ME—- Sige, Churros na lang din.
“Waiterrrrrrr —- DALAWANG CHURROS nga!”
At pahinging dalawang water, maraming yelo ha?
I enjoyed that post. This topic is really very intesting.
