Edmund’s Birthday Dinner

(Old posts published in April 2011 are automatically moving up to present day one by one without me doing anything. When I transfer them back to April 2011, they still manage to appear in the current posts after several hours. So please do not be surprised when all of a sudden a completely unrelated topic appears from the past, Apologies, I hope my staff Abby is able to find out what is wrong with her programs.)

After taking a few photos outside the church, we hurriedly headed back to Tagaytay.
Edmund—- “Let’s go, baka tayo gabihin”.

Ginabi na talaga kami. The fog was so thick and some portions of the zigzag did not have reflectorized paint or markers on the road or sides of the street. Nakakatakot, baka kami mahulog sa bangin kaya we went very slow.

It was 7:20 pm when we reached Alfonso but traffic was very bad. There was a Ford Expedition and a tricycle that figured in an accident. There were no streetlamps kasi and the fog was thick which limited the visibility.

We made a U turn and instead went back to Marcia Adam’s restaurant. This time we got a table that was reserved for the four of us. So far so good. We gave our orders, this was at 7:45 pm. They served the appetizers after 15 minutes, then before we knew it, it was already 9 pm, very tired from seating on the wooden chairs, hungry. The novelty and excitement of dining here was replaced by restlessness and boredom. Edmund‘s back was killing him so nawala na sa mood kumain. He was up at 5 am because they teed off at 6 am. he played 18 holes, drove to Tagaytay, we went to church pa, etc. We’re all tired.

We had to follow-up a few times, parang I wanted to go to their kitchen na to help them prepare the food. More people came including some guy who said hello to Edmund but my husband couldn’t remember the guy’s name. There were two more groups that arrived which made the wait longer. When the main courses arrived, we requested them to bring in the dessert na. But after a few more minutes of waiting, I went to their kitchen and had the fried bananas wrapped na lang. Still, it took them 10 more minutes.

(My daughter wasn’t feeling well, it showed in her eyes)

It was already 10 pm when we left Marcia Adams. Just as I have expected his reaction…. Edmund said “kung ganyan katagal, hindi na’ko babalik, ang sakit ng likod ko…”

The waiters were actually very efficient but when I went to the kitchen, they were also the ones doing the dishes, plating, etc. Kaya siguro matagal. Marcia Adam’s Tuscany Restaurant is a nice place to dine. The ambiance is quaint and provincial, parang Tuscany nga and the food is good too. But maybe it’s better not to go on weekends and holidays to avoid waiting for the food too long. Unless you are lovebirds who don’t care about the food, the chairs, and the longer the wait the better because two people in-love are oblivious of time. Sa kati-titig nyo lang sa isa’t isa, tatlong oras na lumipas. When you’ve been married for a quarter of a century “Ano ba yan ang tagal naman, waiter, follow up mo nga order namin. Kanina pa kami nag-iintay, bilisan nyo gutom na kami. Pagserve nyo ng main course paki sunod na agad yung dessert at yung bill na namin”.
