Family Suicide

I can’t help but get affected by the death of the 3 innocent children of a Taiwanese couple living in San Juan, near Xavier School and Immaculate Conception Academy where my children went to school. We were having lunch today when my son received this horrible news.

MANILA (2nd UPDATE) – Five members of a Taiwanese family were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in their home in Greenhills, San Juan on Saturday morning.

San Juan Police Chief Senior Superintendent Ariel Arcinas said the bodies of 50-year-old Luis Hsieh, his wife Roxanne, and their three children Amanda (19), Jesse (14) and Luis (12) were discovered inside the master’s bedroom in Midland Subdivision, loacted at the corner of Ortigas Avenue and Madison Street in Greenhills.

Authorities said two suicide notes were found near the kitchen sink beside the maid’s quarter. The notes were addressed to the subdivision’s administrators and to a neighbor. The letter also indicated the family’s request for their remains to be cremated.

He also said that there were no signs of struggle on the victims’ bodies.

Although the cause of death has yet to be determined, Arcinas said one of the bodies was foaming at the mouth, indicating that they died due to poisoning.

The family is believed to be having financial problems due to business losses.

MANILA, Philippines – Pinatay muna ng mag-asawang Taiwanese national ang kanilang tatlong anak bago nagpakamatay sa loob ng kanilang tahanan sa San Juan City, kahapon ng umaga­.

Ang mga nasawi ay nakilalang sina Luis Hsieh, 50; at asawang si Ro­xanna Hsieh, 53; at kanilang mga anak na sina Amanda Hsieh, 19; Heffrey Hsieh, 14; at John Hsieh, 12, pawang residente ng 13 GV2 Midland Park Manor Condo, Ortigas Avenue, corner Madison St., sa Brgy. Greenhills, San Juan City.

Hinihinalang pinakain muna ng pagkaing may pampatulog ng mag-asawa ang kanilang mga anak bago tinakluban ng plastic at tape sa kanilang mga mukha upang hindi makahinga at mamatay.

Nang maisagawa ang krimen ay saka nagpakamatay ang mag-asawa.

Nag-iwan pa umano ng dalawang suicide note si Roxanna sa tabi ng lababo sa kusina na malapit sa kuwarto ng mga katulong na si Livina Econia, 21, stay-in, na nagbibigay dito ng instruction na ibigay ang isang liham sa kaibigan nitong si Ama Grace, na isang doktora na kapit­bahay din ng mga biktima; habang ang isa pa ay para sa administrator ng sub­dibisyon.

Dakong alas-6:30 ng umaga­ nang matagpuan ng katulong ang liham ngunit alas-9:00 ng umaga pa niya ito ibinigay sa mga kinauukulan batay na rin sa habilin ng amo.

Sa salaysay naman sa pulisya ng mga ka­tulong, sinabi ng mga ito na wala naman silang narinig na anumang komosyon mula sa kuwarto ng mga biktima mula gabi maging kahapon ng madaling-araw.

Gayunman, sinabi nito na nagluto umano ang kanilang among babae ng pagkain at binilinan silang huwag itong kainin dahil para ito sa kanilang mga anak.

This is really terrible. I pity the children. Their own parents murdered them.
Oh God.
Many people lose their jobs, businesses, properties, money for all sorts of reasons: gambling, na-scam, stock / bond values fell, mounting debts, business losses / closure. But why kill your won children?

When Oyen was in elementary, she had a close friend. One day, she and her family just disappeared. Sabi daw they would go to Hongkong for a short family vacation, pero hindi na bumalik. Nothing was heard from them. Our gut feel was that they really ran away.

About a dozen years ago, someone from the neighborhood collected hundreds and millions from individuals, corporations. Kunwari investments. Then this couple just disappeared, nagpunta sa America. Many senior citizens lost all their retirement funds. Some of them had to sell their house and downgrade their lifestyle. Some fell into deep depression and almost committed suicide.

When problems feel insurmountable, some people really felt the urge of vanishing from this world. BUT don’t bring your children with you. That is so unfair. Don’t kill them. Instead, BELIEVE in them. Give them the chance to live their own lives and maybe they would do better than what you have accomplished. Huwag silang idamay. Parents have no right to take away their children’s future.
