Although it’s been at the back of my mind months prior, I still didn’t shop early enough to avoid cramming. On Wednesday night, I went to Shangrila Mall in panic, hoping to find some nice gift for Edmund for our 31st wedding anniversary. I knew it would be tough luck to spot the perfect gift in half hour.
First store I went to was Herve Leger. he he he. Not for men. I just checked out the dress my daughter liked, kasi I saw their SALE signage outside the door.
Pasok ako baka 70% off. To my surprise the dress was still there pero it’s in the 20% rack. Still expensive. I was hoping it would fetch a 50% discount. I left my card but so far the store hasn’t called. I’ll wait for next year, baka no one would buy it, medyo it’s beginning to look dusty. I hope after the Holy Week it would still be there with a bigger discount.
Btw, Ruffa Gutierrez and her two daughters were in the store. She bought something small, kasi the paper bag was small. Not a dress I would suppose. I find Ruffa Gutierrez prettier when she has less make-up.
Since my husband likes to dress up when he goes to the golf course, maybe a golf shirt would be a sure bet. I went inside Paul Shark. They have a lot of bright colored shirts. For yachting but pwede rin sa golf.
Nay, P11,500+ for one t-shirt. The sales lady said it’s from Italy.
I told her “Ang hirap bumili ng gift for men”, sabay labas ng store. That was just an excuse kunwari hindi halata na namahalan ako.
Art kaya? I walked up to the fourth floor or third floor of the original Shangrila Mall where some art galleries are located. There are very few of them now, many have closed.
I saw a small Araceli Dans painting. It’s roughly the size of a big bond paper. Nabingi ako nung sinabi ang presyo. P275,000 Mahal talaga sa galleries. Last year a friend of mine bought one that’s twice as big but I think he paid P290k If I am not mistaken.
And this one is santan flower (bulaklak), more for female.
My one hour was up and still I didn’t have a gift. I stood there looking down, staring blankly. Ano kaya bibilhin ko?
Oh Rustan’s! That’s it, that’s where I would find him a nice gift.

I saw a table full of leather boxes for men’s watches, trinkets.
No, not for Edmund.
A sales staff approached and offered to help me.
Guy——– “Mam, ilang taon na sya?”
Omb——– “Singkwenta na..”
Guy——– “Ay, eto mam, magugustuhan nya to”.
I couldn’t believe that he suggested that I give my husband a water jug for our wedding anniversary.
Sira ulo yata ito. If I give Edmund a water jug, as a present, wrapped with ribbon and all, magtataka yun bakit, ihampas pa sa akin yan.
I went to the gadgets section. Voombox, I have no idea what this things are. I am not a gadget person, napa ka ignoramus ko.
Eto kaya, P69,500 made in the US. I touched the leather, opened and closed all the drawers trying to imagine my husband using this. Nope. He has no place to put this, maliiit lang dressing room nya. And there’s only a .00001 chance that he would like this. But I like this drawers. I went out of Rustan’s. I wasted another 20 minutes here.
I went down to National Bookstore to buy na lang an anniversary card. Hindi na yata uso, ang konti ng choices.

It’s for Christmas pala. The dedication naman is so corny.
There were three anniversary cards there but the dedications were nakakakilabot- super cornicks.
How about this religious book from Pope Francis? Para lalo syang bumait.
Hmm, I don’t think he would like this. Baka tingnan ako ng masama.
