From super rich to poor - Oh My Buhay

From super rich to poor

I have made some friends around here,  just a few.  One is  Rita,  the black lady from the salon,  and Carol, the Chinese-Singaporean bank executive.  Today I had a 20 minute- chit-chat with Carol.  I told her about my son’s bad experience.

According to her, her eldest sister was very wealthy.  She said “rich, rich, rich, veryyyy rich”.  Her sister gave each of her 12 siblings a house.   Her sister worked in a bank in Indonesia and the husband was an extremely successful investment banker.  His major clients included the government.

Her sister was victimized by an investment networking group.  Carol thinks her sister was targetted because of her wealth.   It began when she was invited to invest a small amount, with a 10% a month interest.  Her investment became bigger and bigger.  She would carry bag-loads of cash to give to the group.  Her family, husband, and siblings were stopping her but she wouldn’t listen.  It was as if she was hypnotized.  She kept “investing” her money.  We already know the ending of this story,  it’s not a happy ending.   She lost all her money and properties.  Including that of her husband.  They became poor.

Even when she already had nothing left,  she started borrowing money from friends and relatives convinced that she would earn back whatever she lost.  That she would start earning again.

She never got her wealth back.  She lost at least $100,000,000.  There was a time when she wanted to commit suicide but her siblings kept watch and prevented her from doing so.

She got sick from depression and extreme stress.  She died at the age of 55,

Carol—–“She died because of that”.

And what about the group who victimized her?  They just said they didn’t have the money.  It was an investment and she lost.

  1. Hi Ms Annie, in my experience,
Scammers target their victim. Someone does not do it alone. They are in a group. Mayroon magsasabi na siya ay kakainvest invest lanh, yung isa is the direct recruiter na walang alam sa detalye pero siya ang nag dala sa biktima sa isang meeting, iyong isa is explaining the scheme nila in detail tapos may isa pang parang matagal ng nag invest and has benefited a lot. Kaya iyong kawawang biktima naman maniniwala. These people will not settle for a small investment like if you only buy less than a thousand sa product nila. They want you to initially invest big na kaagad.
