My body laid flat on the bed. I woke up this Sunday still feeling exhausted from my cooking class. I slept at 10:30 pm and woke up at 8:50 am just to pee, then I went back to bed and woke up at 11 am. I hope Edmund doesn’t hear me otherwise he would say that’s the 150th time he has heard the word tired. But I was really really tired from saturday. I had trouble getting out of bed the following sunday.
I intended not to go out and just veg-out and re-coup my energy but today (March 18) my Kuya Lito‘s birthday. I almost forgot. yesterday (March 17) was FVR’s and Bong’s birthdays. I texted Kuya and invited him for dinner if he doesn’t have any plans. he said yes.
I chose Gloria Maris restaurant in Greenhills. Julienne, Edmund and I arrived at 7:20 pm and we were number six in line. This place is always full.
The receptionist called my name so I stood up. Edmund said, “ANIM”. Oh, I went back to where I was seated while waiting for our table. Then after five minutes, I heard someone called my name again so I stood up. Maybe our table is ready. My husband stopped me, “Sweetheart, ANIM… “. Oh, I sat down again. Then I heard her called out Annie.
so I stood up with my bag, Edmund said “ANIM ANIM… hindi ikaw”. My daughter and my husband were laughing at me.
Kasi naman Tagalog, dapat English para SIX. Ang problemA nung isang beses, tawag naman ng tawag yung isang waiter…
sex, sex. hAY NAKU eskandaloso naman.
Taho is always the finale number. They changed the lalagyan to a smaller clay pot. Dati, we still could have a second round, ngayon tig-sang maliit na cup na lang. Ang daya.
Kuya Lito and I in the parking lot.
Ice candy is very nostalgic to both of us. Our parents had an ice candy factory in Binangonan when I was in high school. Theirs was the most delicious, my mom personally and painstakingly formulated the flavors using natural ingredients like ube, macapuno, red monggo, buko, langka, etc. School teachers waited in line while my mom’s still freezing them. Many were willing to buy even if the ice candy wasn’t frozen yet. No one inherited the recipe and formulations. When my mom died I asked Aileen and my sisters-in-law but according to them, my mom didn’t give them the recipe. Sayang.
I was her assistant when she was formulating the different flavors but I don’t remember the exact ratios and proportions. Sayang.
