Technology allows people to hide behind their computers. Be it at home, in the office, or thru mobile phones. The internet gives every user a feeling of power. To connect, to reach out, to express views, to attack, humiliate, destroy people’s reputation, to sow fake news. This feeling that one can do all these things without fear of being seen, discovered, known as the authors or sources of information, emboldens the perpetrators.
Writing, posting, for the purpose of expressing views and opinions are good as long as these are constructive and objective. To invent stories to malign personalities and destroy their being is the work of evil humans. Those who accept money to insult, endanger, destroy reputations, are misguided as to their sense of purpose in life. The fear that it’s easy to discover who they are should make this bad people think twice before doing their evil deeds.
Soon, the veil of anonymity provided by the internet will disappear. Email addresses can easily be traced, owners and authors of articles could be identified. Even their residences, offices, mobile devices, can be known.
Some people have two, three or more email addresses depending on their purposes. It’s not illegal to have even 20 addresses. For example aka pork and aka chicken could be one and the same. Information such as the residence, the monthly payments to the service provider, what type of gadget is being used, etc. are very easy to find out. Pork may be living in Marikina while chicken is from Antipolo. Last logged in from the residence, say 5 pm.
Ordinary people have a voice. To use it for the common good or to do evil is another thing. It’s their choice.
