Household Helpers

The neighbors’ household helpers, drivers, body guards and village security are talking about us, that our house helpers come and go and no one wants to stay with us for a long time.

Here are just a few of the causes:

1. Marie quarrelled with our neighbor because the neighbor’s garbage was blown by the wind towards our gate. She confronted the old lady and told her “go back to America, f…k you”.
She left after I scolded her.

2. Cook 45 years old, and housegirl, 23, got pregnant, courtesy of our driver M. Of course, we had to part ways with all of them.
3. When we arrived from the US one time, village security reported to me that our driver A, together with C, and cook D, and housegirl O had a drinking session in our garage in celebraton of driver C’s birthday. They went out of the village with our vehicle and came back at midnight, all intoxicated.

4. Housegirl Cher was always sneaking out of our house, mid-day, midnight. I even caught her climbing the fence at past midnight after I locked it. One afternoon, she came home looking drugged and crying. She alledged she was raped by her boyfriend apparently she went out to have an afternoon R&R and now claiming she was raped.

5. Our Inglesh-speaking staff, Joyce, had a big fight with her nemesis Noreem while I was in the US. She left to avoid bloodbath but waited for me to come home so she could come back. I did not call her anymore. She informed my daughter that she would just go to the US to work as caregiver.

6. Housegirl X left after a day because she said she’s a Muslim and it’s forbidden to touch dogs. Since we have several dogs, she said she couldn’t live here.

7. Cook L left after 4 hours because she said it’s too hot in our house. It was in April. She used to work for an expat couple who lived in Rockwell and the whole unit was airconditioned.

8. I had a 10 am meeting at Galleria Suites, expecting that it would be done by 11:30am. The guy didn’t show up till 12 noon and the meeting started at 12:30 and I left at 1:30pm. My driver K could be starving so I picked up Spaghetti with Chicken Joy from Jollibee and gave it to Driver K. He dropped the food on the car’s floor and told me “hindi ako mabubusog dyan”.

9. Edmund stayed in the office till 7:30pm and called me to send the driver to pick him up because he didn’t have a car that day. Driver said “hindi ako pwede, wala ako sa mood mag drive, baka mabangga pa ako”. The rest is history.
