On The Job immortalizes the convicted criminals who are hired and brought out of their prison cells to kill people. We’ve heard of these kind of stories so often of convicted men in prison, serving their sentences, who are hired to kill people outside. In cahoots with jail guards and prison officials, they are allowed to leave their prison cells to execute businessmen, politicians, government officials, or just about anyone they’ve been hired to kill. These prisoners would be brought back to their cells after the job is done, until after the next assignment.

How can the criminals be caught, when they are already inside the jail? If they are caught, what difference does it make? They would just be jailed again.

Gerald Anderson plays an inmate who stood as back-up for hired gun prison inmate Joel Torre. Gerald is my new favorite young Filipino actor. I like his acting, hindi sya over-acting. Gone are the days when the actors shout out their emotions. The new style of acting nowadays is controlled emotions. Hindi ngumangawa, sisinuk-sinok lang.

Edmund wanted to watch The Butler but it’s no longer showing.
Oyen watched Ellysium the night before so she recommended On The Job because of the good reviews it’s been getting.

We went to Eastwood Cinema 1 where it’s currently showing. When it’s raining, there are two things that are fun to do, either laze in bed in pajamas or watch a good movie.

There was a long line. I complained to the ticket office, how come there’s only one ticket attendant. Naka break daw kasi. Eh pano kung nagmamadali at naghahabol ng showing?

The reviews are correct. On The Job is well executed, story well told. The director, Erik Matti, keeps the audience on edge with its suspense-filled scenes. The pacing is fast, less talk, just action. The portrayal of Joey Marquez’ as SPO1__ was brilliant. He gets a 100% rating from me. It’s also star-studded, starring, Joel Torre as Tatang, Gerald Anderson as Daniel, Shaina Magdayao as the daughter of Congressman Manrique and the wife of NBI Chief Piolo Pascual, as Atty. Francis Coronel, Jr. , Michael de Mesa as Congressman Manrique.

Vivian Velez plays Mam Thelma. She’s the one hiring the prisons to execute people.

Watch it and count how many times the characters said putang ina or tang ina. Not once did I hear anyone mention “On The Job”.
Dapat ang title na lang ay Pi ay.

This movie makes me want to pack-up and leave for abroad. It’s scary because we know that these things are actually happening around us.
