Edmund texted me saying that he’s on his way back to the hotel and would be here in a few minutes. While waiting, I explored the hotel lobby after breakfast and checked out their boutique.
I saw some nice porcelain tea cups but they’re very expensive. One guilded porcelain cup and saucer is RMB4,500. It comes with a really nice box.
Complimentary tea for valued guests. Too bad I don’t drink tea.
Our train to HK leaves at 6 pm, we still have a few hours so the best thing to do is visit their downtown shopping area. The hotel concierge was suggesting that we go to the IFC mall nearby and another mall selling all branded goods. It’s not advisable to buy branded goods in China because their import duties are high. There are so many malls already in Manila so I told the concierge that I want to go where the goods are made in China.
We went to their downtown, some 15 minutes from the hotel. We paid the taxi RMB25.
The stores don’t accept international credit cards and foreign currency, even US$ or HK$. When I went to the bank to exchange some dollars, they didn’t want to change my money because I did not bring my passport. So next time we come here, I’ll make sure I have enough Yuan or RMB.
I bought a cotton dress here for RMB250. The mezzanine is where they keep their stocks. I asked for their biggest size and this is how they get the clothes. High tech ha.
I bought one for RMB25. It came with an instruction manual in a mini disc.
I bought three silk dresses from this store. The 100% silk are RMB1,000+ per piece. The less expensive cotton ones are RMB350. Ang problema their Large size is like a Small. I was able to get XXXL but still needs some alteration on the stomach area.
We’re back in the hotel by 3 pm. Dumped more stuff in our maleta. Took a short nap then checked-out.
Our maleta has become a lot heavier due to the brochures and catalogues we collected from the exhibitors.
The taxi is similar to the old-fashioned London taxis.
Guangzhou train station
Our train leaves at 6 and it’s only 4:30 pm, We haven’t had lunch so kain muna kami.
I ate 1 1/4 plates of Yang Chow Fried Rice , Edmund had 1/2 only. The `1/4 is tira.
five pieces of Fried Chicken wings
Two pieces grilled pork chop but Edmund only ate one piece.
Our total bill was RMB130, ang mura.
It’s time to go
Train ticket to HK is RMB190 per person but we paid RMB240/ px because the hotel facilitated and charged an additional fee. Okay lang instead of me going to the train station to buy the tickets.
I was very sleepy and feeling rayuma all over my body. Massage, massage would be good here!
After two hours, we finally reached Hung Hom station in Hongkong.
First stop as usual is the toilet.
Three steps up the squat-type unidoro. Para akong nakaupo talaga sa trono. Mahirap madulas dito. May bukol ka na, mabantot ka pa.
Mr. Yee doesn’t want to take a cab. Excited talaga sya to take the train kahit pagud-na-pagod na kami. Meron pa syang hila-hilang maleta na kabigat-bigat.
Very clean. Is the LRT this clean too?
After long walks, steep stairs, several escalator rides and train tranfers, we reached the MTR Central Station in Hongkong right in front of Landmark shopping center. We took a cab to Lan Kwai Fong. We were at the hotel by 10:30 pm feeling exhausted and unhappy with how our hotel turned-out to be.
