Make-up - Oh My Buhay

When I was younger,  I didn’t mind attending breakfast meetings.  But now,  the earliest meeting that I welcome is 10 am.  With the traffic congestions,  I need an hour allowance to get to Makati.

I had an early  (10:30am!) meeting this morning.  I was running late so I didn’t put on make up na,  I told myself “sa kotse na lang” anyway I would have ample time because of the traffic   so I left the house with no make-up.

When we’ve  already passed Boni Ave. in Mandaluyong,  I suddenly remembered that I had no make-up yet.  When I looked for my make-up kit,  naku patay, wala.  I must have left it in my bathroom.

I went to the grocery store at the ground floor of Alphaland Southgate Mall in EDSA before going to my meeting.   They looked like they’ve just opened.  I had to ask 3 different personnel in the grocery before I found where the make-ups were.

At first I landed on this hall.  Oh tamang-tamang,  I’ll buy na rin a small toothpaste that I will leave in my office.   Eto,  when I picked-up a box,  huh,  katol pala. The box design and color looked similar to Colgate.  I really need antipara (eye glasses).

Anyway I found the rack.  The brand was unfamiliar to me.  But not much choices.  There’s no one to help me find what I needed,  a mascara and a lipstick.   There’s a male staff that tried to help me.

Male—  Mam,  ako na lang kasi 11 pa dadating yung in-charge.

Me—–   Can you help me find the mascara?  Hindi ko makita,  yung black.

Male—-  Mascara,   (hanap hanap)  mam eto.

Me——  Eye liner yan.  Yung mascara,  para sa pilik-mata,  yung black.

Male—- Mam, eto,  eye brow ba?

Me—–  Mascara,  yung black.  Basahin mo kung ano nakalagay.

Male—– (hanap hanap)  mam eto, mascara.

Me——   Brown yan,  yung black,  itim.  Naku bilisan mo kasi late na ko sa meeting ko.

When I clicked my camera,  the female guard came and told me “Mam, bawal yan!”

Me— Bakit bawal?

Guard— Yun ang utos,  basta bawal?

Me—–  At bakit bawal,  anong rason?

Guard– (she couldn’t tell me why bawal)

Me—– Hindi naman mababawasan yang tinda nyo kung kunan ko ng litrato,  magtatayo ba’ko ng grocery, kokopyahin ko ba yan?  Bakit bawal?

Guard left me be.

Wag syang loloko-loko, masama gising ko.

I grabbed and paid for the stuff, ran to my office and put-on make up.  The mascara was only P130 but I must have brushed my lashes 50 times (no kid) and nothing has changed,  parang walang tinta.  The lipstick was only P130 but there’s a catch which I found out after my guests have left.  I looked at the mirror and to my horror the light pink color turned into a very very dark crimson red, nagmukha akong vampire sa Twilight.
