Mastercard credit limit

I received my Mastercard credit card statement this afternoon. I contacted their customer service for two requests: One is to reverse the P6,000 a year membership fee. They should automatically waive this but they don’t. One must call and how many people remember to call? If I don’t call, then the P6,000 is added bonus to them. Hassle, the waiting for the operator or call center agent, plus the long process of identity verification. One question that I hate although I understand that it’s necessary, is my last transaction. Hindi ko talaga natatandaan kasi makakalimutin ako. I am super contrabida kaya “ano pa ang gusto mong itanong?”

If they don’t reverse it, I will cancel my card because one bank is giving me a card with no annual fee. (Annie’s style of arrogance.)

My second request is to bring down my credit limit to year 2008 level. Siguro baligtad ako. Others prefer higher limit, me naman ayaw ko. Ang daming manloloko ngayon, daming scammers, mabuti na yung mababa lang ang credit limit ko. Several years ago, I once called Allied Bank to increase my limit because I was going to travel, they didn’t want. Then after a year, I was dumbfounded when I found out that they increased it tremendously. Aba, sino kaya ang magbabayad nyan pag ginamit ng mga manloloko? I had the limit brought back to the original amount. Tapos ngayon without me asking for it, pa-increase pala sila ng pa-increase. I just noticed today, bakit ang laki na ng limit?

Less credit limit, less expenses, less risks. It’s better that way. Having a very high credit limit will give you a false sense of security. Even if you can afford it, be conscious of your lifestyle.

  1. I agree with everything you just said, Ms. Annie. I, too, monitor my credit card purchases and bills every month. It pays to be careful and watchful…

  2. I work for the competitor of MC.

We joke around at work saying that every month we recieve our paycheck but we pay our Credit card bill so its like giving them back our salary. Wahaha!

It is wise to have a debit card that only contains your budgeted amount for spending, and a credit card with a limited credit limit. I know its hard to control spending when you have limitless credit. That’s why i depend more on my debit card. I like charging using my card because of added perks like cash back and bonus point converted to cash or the rebate. 5% rebate is not bad.

Pansin nyo po nag promote pa ako. Hahahaha!
