Melting Louis Vuitton Bag Strap

April 28, 2018

The shoulder strap of a Louis Vuitton bag I bought in Budapest a few years ago is melting.  The black gooey glue sticks to everywhere it gets in contact with,  on the bag itself, on  my clothes, shelf,  anywhere, it is very sticky.

I packed it in a plastic bag and looked for the receipt.  I felt relieved I still have the store receipt.    LV has a global warranty so I would bring this strap to the nearest LV store.

I brought the strap to an LV store in the US and they were not surprised that the strap’s glue was melting.  Apparently that was not the first time this happened.  The store looked for the bag itself but unfortunately I left it in Manila.  She said they cannot replace only the strap.  They have to replace the whole bag. Hmmm good news but the bag was not with me.    The earliest I could bring the bag with the matching strap would be end of the year.

  1. I bought a Louis Vuitton little over 5 months ago ( i have been trying to get them to help me since it happened, my purse was brand new at the time) and once i placed my bag on my seat in my car, the bottom of the bag melted. Really not sure what happened since this was a very expensive purse.
My car and the seat were not hot because i was sitting on it! It was about 70 degrees outside in Colorado
I sent the purse back and LV told me there was nothing they can do.
    This was a $2900 bag.
The pictures below will show you what happend

  2. Hi Kelly,

Thank you for your comment on my post on Oh My Buhay.

I went to the LV store in Aria in Las Vegas. My understanding was they would send my bag including the strap to Paris for replacement.

I had a problem with my sunglasses I bought from the LV store in Union Square in San Francisco and although they did not replace it, they issued me a store credit which I used to buy another pair of sunglasses.

Maybe you should contact another LV store in the US. Show your receipt.

    Regards,
    Omb
