I haven’t been to Mount Rushmore National Memorial Park in South Dakota. I want to go. I want to see the giant faces carved on the granite mountain of Mount Rushmore. I googled the tour packages and it’s so far away pala from San Francisco. Sobrang hassle. Saka na lang siguro.
Mount Rushmore is a must-see!. It isn’t hard to get there from SFO. Take a domestic flight to Rapid City, South Dakota (with one layover, Denver or Salt Lake City). There is a Holiday Inn at Rapid City. You can rent a car and drive up to Mount Rushmore. It isn’t very far from Rapid City. Make sure you stay until the night activities. Just don’t eat the burgers (hockey pucks). There is a Visitor Center on-site where you can go shopping for really cool Mt. Rushmore stuff. While in South Dakota, you can take a side trip to the Badlands and Sturgis. Several hours away by car is Devil’s Tower ( as in the movie “Close Encounters…”). The drive is easy and pleasant. Best time to visit is in the fall where the colors of trees are absolutely magnificent. Best to make the trip on your own. Tours are usually crammed and rushed.
Hope you do make that trip….it is worth it!
