I was invited to Myrna Yao’s 60th birthday at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
I was actually feeling lazy because I didn’t know what to wear. The invitation specified long dress or cocktail dress. Parang wala ako sa mood magbihis kasi my gowns and cocktail dresses are all masikip na but only in the tummy area.
With much hesitation, I ended-up going. I needed my son to zip me up. Ang sikip na ng dress ko. I have worn this 3x, to Ford EDSA’s event, to Johnny Litton’s birthday at Dusit also, to another event. It was made by the incredibly talented Amir Sali.
I skipped the mass and cocktails. I arrived at 7:15 pm, hindi pa’ko late. My colleagues in the Women’s Business Council weren’t there yet. In fact I was the only person at table #6. Evelyn Singson saw me and insisted that I move to where she was, Table #1.
I want to live till 60 and beyond, till 70, till 80.
I want my children and husband to be around too when I celebrate my 3 “Ti” birthdays. Why 3 only. Because it’s too much to ask for to live till 9Ti.
Myrna has 9 apos running around in the ballroom. She has 4 married daughters. I was surprised when her daughters and sons-in-law wished her “may you find happiness”. Yung isang son-in law ang sabi, “May you find LOVE”. Myrna is probably single again.
My eyes were closed. Myrna with her dancing friends.
Parang debutante,
Mukhang from her employees. Myrna is the owner of Richwell Trading. Importer and distributor of Barbie dolls.
Orange tulips from her family.
This was perched on a pedestal near the stage. I forgot to ask Myrna about this. Baka devotee sya nito.
Guests were already eating when I arrived. I just put down my purse and off I went to the buffet.
I am maarte when it comes to plates. I had trouble choosing which one, kasi puro may gasgas at mantsa lahat ng pinggan.
I asked the waiter to help me choose. “Waiter, alin ba hindi matigas dito?” I remember when I got married, some of our guests complained that all the tinapay were luma na, kasi matigas.
I had a little bit of salad, kunwari healthy eating, sangkatutak naman ang bacon bits.
I had two pieces of the mozarella.
These 3 were arguing about the lechon. One of the ladies was hesitant to get some kasi masama daw.
Teka, waiter, why is this bamboo still sticking out here? Please give the pig a sense of dignity.
Do not be deceived, I had two more plates of this
George Yang came with his wife Kristin (not in photo)
These were Myrna’s friends from the National Commission on Women. (Parang ako’ng may birthday)
Myrna with Miss Universe Margie Moran
Margie loved to dance. I will post her photos while dancing, maybe tomorrow.
Grace Tiongco with friends
Ms. Evelyn Singson with her friend (Oh my I am sorry, I forgot her name).
Both Evelyn and I didn’t want to dance. We just watched.
There were so many dance instructors. Some women brought their own dance partners.
They did not mention the name of the band.
This guy was distracted when I took his picture.
Syempre the best part was the dessert.
While they were dancing, I was choosing…..
Waiter, can you just bring me fresh fruits? Meron mam.
The debutante with her family, minus the husband.
Myrna with me, minus my husband too. He’s at home, asleep na.
I left at exactly 9pm. These were Myrna’s give aways.
Lots of food. I know Myrna Yao, they own the Barbie dolls.
