Thoughts on Necklaces

Every time I attended the Best Dressed event, it made feel like there’s no pangit in Manila.
Every woman there looked stunning and beautiful. Parang lahat ng maganda eh nadun.
Going inside the comfort room was like stepping into a pre- Oscar Awards night where women were touching –up on their make-ups, fixing their fabulous gowns. Many of them, brought their yayas to assist and carry their belongings.

I admire the older women. They’re actually the ones that looked more preparadas. Sila yung well-coiffed and their long gowns looked more well-thought of and planned for this fashion event.

Alam ko na why older women tend to wear elaborate neckpieces. I could be mistaken but kutob ko lang –to hide the neck’s creases. I discovered that by wearing big chokers and necklaces, it could hide the kulubots.

I have a few pendants and necklaces, ni wala pang walo, and they are so simple. Chain lang and a small diamond pendant. Except for a necklace Edmund gave me 20 years ago which I stopped wearing after it fell off my neck twice. Baka mawala lang. And the first time I wore it, someone commented mukha daw akong magsasagala.

I’m not fond of wearing fashion jewelries and necklaces. But things are changing. Beginning last July, my interest in wearing neckpieces has grown. I bought a simple pearl necklace for Oyen in TJMaxx for $150, pasalubong ko sana but I didn’t give it to her. I wore it instead. I have also started wearing my old necklace to the office. Napapa-tingin tuloy yung mga empleyado. Baka akala yumaman na ako (lols). Luma na yun. Kinuha ko sa baol. Para kasing biglang gumaganda ako ng katitik lang naman. Siguro nga kasi na de-deviate yung attention, instead of people staring on my face, sa necklace na lang.
