New Angel in Town - Oh My Buhay

New Angel in Town

There’s a new angel in town,  Rianne,  the second daughter of my nephew Ruel Tan son of my brother Kuya Ben (+).

There are actually two new additions to the Tan family this year, (1) Li, the baby girl of my nephew Dr. Rick Tan, son of my Kuya Junior, and Rianne.

Rianne was baptised yesterday at the Sanctuario de San Jose in Greenhills, San Juan.

I was both surprised and intrigued by this “new’ practice of someone from the church going around expecting for donations from those who attended in the baptism.  I thought the church already collected a fixed fee from the parents, so what’s this new thing of collecting cash which I found awkward and OFF.  I heard that this is also being practiced nowadays in weddings.  Envelopes are given to the ninongs and ninangs after the rites.  Ano ba yun,  tip?
