OB-GYNE - Oh My Buhay

THIS POST IS FOR WOMEN ONLY. PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS REQUIRED.

I was supposed to have quarterly check- ups but a combination of “busy and lazy” has prevented me from visiting my ob-gyne regularly. There’s an additional deterrent— Dra. Adan has been skipping her clinic duties due to her own sickness, diabetes. She had the first onset when she gave birth to her second child.
Lately, her doctor daughter is the one taking care of her patients but I do not want to go to her daughter yet.

I was lucky I caught Dra. Adan in her clinic on the 3rd floor of St. Luke’s in Quezon City last thursday. I expected to wait for a while due to her dozens of patients sometimes numbering up to 50.
She and her two assistants have given me some kind of special treatment thru the years by not making me wait.
This thursday was different. There was only one patient waiting outside when I arrived and she was ahead of me by half hour. I didn’t mind waiting so I sat outside and tinkered with my I/pad. After about half-an-hour the door opened, two nuns came out and when the secretary saw me, she said I was next. I was a little embarrassed because I was only third but I stood-up and went in nevertheless.

Dra. Adan looked a little tired and after kumusta-kumusta,
Dra: Oh, Annie, higa ka na.
Her secretary, Marge, made sure my legs were in the right place and she switched on the spotlight that looks like a photographer’s light,
para bang okay prek prek, pose and smile, klik!

She inspected the innermost spectrum of my being.
Dyos mio ang sakit.
Dra.: Bakit Annie, masakit ba? Hindi ka na sanay?
(Doctora virgin pa po ako!)

Now I remember, the real reason why I have been skipping my regular check-ups is it’s so painful, wahhh! aray!

Dra. Adan is one of the best ob-gyne in this part of the world.
Dra. Adan- oh my buhay

Nuns have check-ups too. I wonder if it hurts that much too.
St. Lukes- oh my buhay
