My sister asked me about any plans on my birthday and my answer was wala kasi may virus pa. I didn’t want to host a big party with my siblings and their families because I would be inconsiderate of their health and safety. I didn’t want to make them feel unsafe and uncomfortable being around more than 20 people even if we’re all belonging to the same genetic composition.
I didn’t make any plans. I didn’t even buy special food to cook. Oyen ordered two pieces of dungeness crabs which I cooked for our dinner. She asked why I cooked them na, they thought the crabs were for my birthday.
My son came with bundles of fresh flowers, two pieces of sliced rib eye, lots of fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.
Spending my birthday with my family even without a party is already a celebration most especially this year when thousands are dying from the Coronavirus.
I thank the heavens for this year.
