I actually felt a little embarrassed every time someone gave me a box or a paper bag. Nahihiya talaga ako. Hindi kasi ako sanay na nireregaluhan. I was always the one giving gifts.
It was really so nice of them to come and bring me things. Considering that majority of them were actually strangers, I felt the love. It’s not the contents, I just felt their real concern for me and my family.
And the gifts! All were well thought of.

The Power of a Praying Mom from Schel Marquez
This is from Merce. Sineryoso yata nya. She went shopping.
She gave me two pairs of pants, one gray corduroy and the other one is a snake skin.
This would fit, tila mainit lang ang corduroy this summer.
When I saw the tight fitting snake skin pants, medyo nag worry ako baka magmukha akong palaka kasi malaki ang tyan ko. Hmm, it feels so comfortable. I will wear this in the US.
Snakes have many enemies. Here’s a few: big birds, coyotes, wild boars, mongooses, foxes, and even other snakes. OMB!
Hindi kaya ako habulin ng mga pusa? Di ba galit din sa snake ang mga kuting? Baka kalmutin ako.
