Our eldest brother, Kuya Junior, gives a short impromptu speech at every Tan family gathering. Since he is the oldest, we look up to him as an extension of our parents.
I became emotional thinking about my parents and two brothers who had passed away. Kuya Ben (February 2006) and Kuya Romy (February 2025). It’s hard to comprehend where our deceased parents and brothers are now. Heaven? Vast sky?
Kuya Lito is experiencing some health concerns too which limit his mobility. Eh matigas pa naman ang ulo. Ayaw inumin mga gamot nya kaya ayaw gumaling. He has to take his heart medications three times a day but he still needs to be convinced every single episode what the medicines are for and that they are the best medicines science has invented so far. If he is not convinced well enough, he will not take the tablets.
I was gripped with sadness thinking about how fragile life is and what the future holds.
I wish and pray that there will be more Tan Family reunions to come, with the four of us still present, healthy and smiling. I wish and pray that each and every one of the Tans and all our families are blessed with good health and long life. I wish and pray that no sickness, danger, accident, or heavy problems come in our orbits. I wish the same for those reading this post.
