Raining, Eating @ Antonio’s

I just arrived from a 3 1/2 hours traffic jam along SLEX. There were no trucks, buses or vehicles stalled on the road and no accidents. Nor it was caused by the intermittent heavy downpour that lasted only for a few minutes. The horrendous traffic jam was caused by the vehicles exitting Sucat Interchange and Bicutan. Imgine the amount of time, GASOLINE and effort that have been wasted. I felt so dizzy and nauseated.

I did not go to the office today, but instead went straight to Tagaytay for some meeting with the Barangay Captain. I had other errands and at 2 pm, I went to Antonio’s to have a late lunch. I shouldn’t be eating anymore because everything that I ate just stay inside my stomach. I don’t know where all those food are going. Nothing comes out of my cutie pwetie. The only indication is that my stomach keeps getting bigger, of course, where would all those food go and be stored? Unfortunately I have an extremely good appetite, so I couldn’t help but put food in my mouth. Sometimes I am beginning to think if the only reason for my being is eating. If my purpose for staying on earth is to patronize the culinary boomers. Dapat daw we should just eat to live, pero ako, parang I am only here on earth just to eat. Kaya eto, so many health issues.

so let’s go to Tagaytay!

First, brave the morning traffic along C5

P1060095

I cannot think of any advantage this elevated U-turn brings to motorists. Before they were constructed, it was traffic at the corner of C5 and Kalayaan. After they constructed these two U-turns, traffic congestion along C5 now extends all the way to Valle Verde and is no longer traffic, but heavy traffic every single day and every hour.

Upon reaching Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road, my ritual includes buying and eating nilagang mais
P1060101

P10 each pero may dagdag na dalawa kasi I like to get the bungi-bungi and mura kind, that most people don’t want.

Antonio’s main dining’s menu are set menus

I ordered the Seafood Sampler (P1,450) para hindi masyadong heavy.

Antonio’s organic Mesclun salad, bleu d’ Auvegne crumbled glazed walnuts, dried currants and cranberries with raspberry vinaigrette, Drizzled with Basil Oil.
If you want wine, they recommend Colombelle Colombard or Chateau de Gourdone to pair with this salad.

P1060124

They gave me a piece of this sesame seed crusted roll, sorry hindi masarap. The bread is not fresh. I always liked the rolls at Fire Lake Grill, always served hot and fresh.

P1060125

Cream of oven toasted tomato and capsicum. Served hot which I liked. The taste is okay but not wow.

P1060131

The server, named Joy, told me “mam, I am giving you a sorbet before your main course, we are not charging you, compliments ko na lang”. ??????? It just didn’t sit well with me. I am paying this restaurant good money, it’s not cheap, but why should it be emphasized to me that I am getting a half-golf-ball sized green mango sorbet for FREE?. Shall I forever be indebted?

P1060135

Here comes the finale….
from right to left,
Panfried Chilean sea bass in minted potato with oysters veloute,
Panseared scallop on celleriac mashed truffle cream sauce
Sauteed morel, prawn thermidore. The sliced prawn was in a baked pastry that was hard to chew so I just scooped the delicious prawn with some creamy sauce.
They recommended wine pairing for the above: Either Lar Cru Les Pitangerots, Shiraz Aubin, Paul Pillot or Laureat- Perrier Brut. Which one daw do I like. Water na lang dear.

P1060136

I ordered guava sorbet unfortunately there’s none today. They gave me a trio of mango, lime and watermelon sorbet. I loved the fresh mint leaves.

I was waiting for the waiter to say that this is also with his compliments. Hindi na ito libre may bayad na P120 or P140++

All told, my meal was good, I had a relaxed moment, dining at Antonio’s was a pleasant experience, most especially that the background music was Josh Groban.

Let’s go to the banyo muna before hitting the road.

As soon as I got on the van, it started pouring, but only for a few minutes.

P1060164

The rain was so heavy, we had zero visibility.

P1060166

It stopped after 10 mintues. Then rained again when we reached Eton in Sta. Rosa
