We went inside a house that Architect Roy bought from Obando, Bulacan for P100,000. He spent over a million to piece it together like a puzzle.
The house is more than 110 years old and is grand in all aspects. Mansion yan nung araw.
He converted this into another bed and breakfast / boutique hotel with 4 spacious rooms, two on each floor.

This reminded me of my childhood. Na-miss ko ang papa ko. Our switches were like this, sya lang nagkukumpuni pag sira.
Our travel to Sulyap in Laguna was not only to have breakfast. We were given a tour of the school building he now uses to exhibit his more than a thousand collection of furniture, gasera, old santos, etc.
We had this when I was little, my mom gave it away to her niece kang Taling. I was so upset when one afternoon, I came home from Manila when I found our sofa missing. Yun nga, nagmagandang loob ang mama ko, without asking me if I wanted to keep it or what. She even took several pieces of clothing from my cabinet. New ones, those that I still use.
Maricar de Mesa was with her mom, and friend Almira Muhlach.
You will never find an antique typewriter (makinilya) among my possessions. I am not going to accept it even if you give it to me for free. Baka hatinggabi (midnight) eh merong nagmamakinilya.
I have 3 antique ivory santos. I do not intend to bring home any more antique santos. Tila meron kasing mga kasamang spirits.
Some of his collections are from abroad.
The owners used to import and distribute wines.
We toured the Sulyap Museum. These are all personal collections of Roy. Bata pa daw mahilig na talaga sya sa antiques.
There’s a big hall that could accommodate 150 people, for events daw. Weddings, birthdays.
They could transform it into a romantic venue complete with white linens, flowers, and an old VW Beetle.
I had a big red horse made of papier mache when I was small. My parents bought it from the sidera.
There are many papier mache makers in Laguna. Those that you see in Santolan and other places, galing yan sa Laguna.
I now know where to buy this wooden drums/ barrels, nakita ko sa Sta. Rosa- Tagaytay Road. Before Christmas, I am going to buy several. I prefer the natural brown color sana.
