Summit Closing Ceremony Photos

October 31, 2019

Thailand did a great job of organizing the Women CEU Summit. In my opinion, it was perfect except for the speech of the Thai Prime Minister. They forgot to provide a translator. I did not understand a word. Other than that, five cheers to the organizers headed by this year’s chair of the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN), Khunying Natthika Wattanavekin Angubolkul and to the government of Thailand.

The event was covered by the media, and photos of the princess were published on several daily newspapers.

I was at first standing in front, then I was asked to move up to the second row because I was not wearing a Thai dress according to one of the ladies. I think the front was reserved for the committee officers and not for the speakers. Then one person on the second row asked me to go up to the third row because I was covering her. Very masunurin, I went up but the lady behind me was short daw sya so she asked me nicely if I could go up again. Hayan, I can’t even identify myself. Ang layu-layo ko na gatuldok na lang.

I made some new friends.
summit 310 Dr. Aisha

My favorite was Dr. Aisha, a medical doctor from Malaysia. I invited her to come to Manila.
Aisha—-“Annie, Ti ti is looking for you. She is over there.”
Me——-“Who?”
Aisha—-“Ti ti”.
Me——-“Ti ti who? Letter ti….ti, is that her name?”
Aisha—-“Yes.”
Me——-“Do you know what that means in Tagalog?”
Aisha—-“No, what is it?”
Me——-“A bird, a man’s bird.”
Aisha—–“Whoo. Annie you are so funny.”
Me——-“It’s true!”

The ladies went up the stage (I did too) to sing “I am Woman” by Helen Reddy.

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an’ pretend
‘Cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever gonna keep me down again
Oh yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong
(Strong)
I am invincible
(Invincible)
I am woman…..

Next year’s summit would be staged in Vietnam. I am not sure if I will attend. I think there is a conflict with my Oct – Nov 2020 schedules.
