My own simple notion of a SUPREME COURT is that the buck stops there.
That is why it’s called Supreme, in tagalog, KATAAS-TAASANG HUKOM.
We Filipinos enjoy freedom but there should be a rule of law or else our democracy would not function well for the good and protection of the people.
The constitution’s basic essence is to protect human rights. The government’s function is to uphold the constitution so that every citizen is free from any form of tyranny or oppression.
Without the rule of law and respect for our constitution, our country will be ruled by anarchy, public opinion, popular vote or worst, oppression.
We may not agree sometimes with the Supreme Court, but as citizens, it is our duty and obligation to RESPECT and uphold the rule of law in our country.
When the Supreme Court speaks, we must listen, honor and obey.
