I didn’t watch the live telecast of Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant.
I just woke up this morning with the winners’ photo on the front page of the Philippine Star.
The ladies all looked gorgeous.
The pageant’s emcee, Toni Gonzaga created a lot of buzz with her hosting style and sense of humor.
I only saw a few seconds news clip of a particular candidate who said it’s her first time to join. Toni Gonzaga asked her if she wants to have a second time. Which could technically mean if the contestant would like to lose so she could come back and join again.
Toni Gonzaga is a veteran emcee. She could be funny and witty.
There are some events like this beauty pageant that need more restraint in throwing and injecting wit and humor. Although funny, some contestants might get offended. Other viewers may find it bordering on rudeness, arrogance and disrespect.

After watching the video clip, napasobra nga confidence ni Toni. It was lacking elegance, naging bakya. I felt I was watching a pageant from fiestahan.
From that clip, I agree with the critics. It seems that her intent was to criticize, poke fun, embarrass others to get laughs, instead of making people comfortable by creating a light atmosphere. I think humor is good – but, not if it’s a the expense of others.

Ms. A, Toni Gonzaga made fun of the candidates. What she did was foul, touching the earrings, she has a comment on everything. And she even disrespected Mr. Frederic go, repeatedly saying Go! Go!
Bagay lang sa kanya host ng Miss Barangay.
Just seeing her outrageous gown, I knew she up for something. This girl is so KSP. Did she finish her higher education? Maybe she should try to consider, starting with Etiquette and Manners 101. The Bb. Pilipinas organization must have learned their lessons. Not all emcees / host are created equal. Some have grace and elegance.
I agree with co-readers DJ, Lorelei, Elaine, Tania and DPSJ. Very unprofessional si Toni Gonzaga. She tauted the candidates and made fun of Regelie Catacutan’s surname. She doesn’t not have any right to mock contestants. Pang perya nga lang sya.
