Julienne was searching last thursday evening for old photos that she could use for our company MTV when she saw this old box containing some treasures piled under the boxes of old photos.
Ganyan ako talaga, makakalimutin that’s why Edmund always tells me “oh meron ka pa dung box sa storage na hindi pa nabuksan”.
It looks like I bought this belt ages ago. But this would likely remain in this box for ages because my waistline would never shrink. Maybe I’ll just give this to my daughter.
Cross Pen- a gift to Edmund from one of his guests when he turned ___?
Crystal bracelet I bought from Lane Crawford in HK some 15 years ago. It had a matching necklace but that disappeared from its box few years ago. I was certain that it was stolen by one of our housemaids.
I don’t remember wearing this. Maybe I did, once. Then I totally forgot I even have this. Again, this goes to Julienne.
Mont Blanc Pen. Another gift to Edmund. Mont Blanc’s focus now is on watches. There are more people buying watches than pens. Pens easily get lost. I once found a very expensive Mont Blanc under a table at the Shangri-La Ballroom. There were very few people left in the ballroom and I didn’t know who to give it to. It did not have a cover, just the body. I also don’t remember anymore where that pen is.
Birthday gift to me but I don’t remember from whom.
Jewelry music box made of plastic.
Christmas gift from my then boyfriend Edmund
marked 12-25-78 at the bottom.
At syempre meron ring kasamang “I love you V.M”.
At syempre ulit, that was 33 years ago.
It had a ballerina doll that dances on the mirror. I have lost the doll. Notice the Crispa sticker, kasi during that time Edmund played for the Crispa Redmanizers, MICAA.
Sterling silver box (needs polishing)
More than 20 years ago, I joined a trade fair in Taipei with delegates and exporters from the Philippines organized by Philexport. We used to have a publishing company that published a trade directory called Buyers Guide to Philippine Manufacturers and Exporters. I displayed the directories at the booth of spouses Felix and Zeny Chan, who manufactured Capiz lamp shades.
It was an international exhibition with many countries participating. I was walking around the exhibition hall one afternoon when I saw this silver box displayed at the booth of Brunei. I asked how much and there was a guy who looked so dignified who approached me and asked me “do you like it?” I said yes. He said it’s only for display. He asked where I was from, etc.
After about two weeks, I received a call from one of the exporters who was with us in Taipei, he told me the prince gave this to him to give to me. Prince? who? Apparently, the guy who I spoke with at the Brunei booth was a relative of the Sultan. No wonder his demeanor was very dignified.
We were the first awardee of the President’s Circle Award given by Ford Motor Company. Together with winners from other countries, we were treated to a few days of pampering in Kona, Hawaii from Feb 27 to March 2, 2000. Every night, the Ford staff left little gifts in our hotel room.
This was for Edmund, a Tiffany sterling silver key chain.
This’ the one for me. A tiny luggage made of sterling silver. Napaka cute nito.
It opens, I think these Tiffany items cost more than $300.
This Limoges porcelain miniature pineapple was also from Ford. They left this in the room on the second night. Meron pa syang ternong tiny slice of pineapple. Limoges is from France and this tiny thing sells for more than a hundred US dollars.
A birthday gift from Atty. & Mrs. Leonardo Siguion-Reyna.
Sig passed away two years ago at the age of 89. We have traveled together many times in the past during Presidential State Visits together with our group Philippines, Inc. A very very nice person. We all miss him.
This is actually a twin picture frame.
My daughter’s birthday gift to me in 2002. An angel bell made of ceramic. I don’t want it to break so I am keeping it here.
Wedding souvenir / giveaway at our wedding, December 18, 1983. We were so tipid. We didn’t even have a budget for giveaways but we managed to order about 50 pieces of this from somewhere in San Juan.
This is part of our treasures.
greetings. Awesome text and a great blog
I also keep important things in one box. Old photos, trinkets, tiny souvenirs, etc. I like your sensitivity and candidness.
