Unemployment in the Philippines

From my experience as an employer, I know that many employees in general either quit their jobs at the end of the year or they are fired after the holidays by compassionate bosses.

Many will suffer from prolonged holiday syndrome and would be too lazy to go back to their jobs in January. Many remain in their provinces, still in the mood for vacation unmindful of the fact that too much vacation could lead to a permanent vacation. You’re fired sabi nga ni Trump.

The rate of unemployment in the Philippines remains high compared to our neighboring countries. I think we have the highest number of jobless, in-between jobs, too lazy to work, people. To give credit to the business and industries sectors, and to the past and present governments, there’s always a desire to employ more people. Ang problema, job requirements vis a vis the education and skills of the job applicants don’t match. Last year naman, many companies shrank because of the choo-choo TRAIN law so many Filipinos lost their jobs.
It’s a simple arithmetic. More unemployed people means less income or less money to spend.

High unemployment is a precursor to poverty. The velocity of money slows down and this affects the ability of the country to produce goods and services. The Velocity of money pertains to the number of times that the same money was used to purchase goods and services.

Jobless people naturally don’t have money to spend. Their purchasing power becomes zero. It has a wide-ranging negative effect on our economy and thus in our country, in all of us.

Kailangan magsipag tayong lahat.

Huwag maging kampante at tamad. Huwag magnakaw kahit kanino at kahit kailan.
