USS JOHN C. STENNIS

We were supposed to spend 3 days holiday in Baguio but when I received an invitation from the US Embassy for a reception tonight on board one of the world’s biggest aircraft carriers, USS John C. Stennis, I did not have second thoughts of canceling our trip to Baguio. Edmund pulled some strings to get a late hotel booking at the Manor, and this did not deter me either to cancel Baguio off.
Goodbye Baguio, Welcome aboard the USS John Stennis.

For 5 days, I dreamed of entering this humongous vessel. I already knew what I was going to wear including my brand new flat shoes.

This morning I woke up to a newspaper announcement that the reception was canceled due to the typhoon.

Inis naman ako kay Mina, of all the days that you could slam the Philippines with your powerful winds, you chose this one perfect Sunday that I have been raring and overly excited to go to this navy ship? How many times in a person’s lifetime that one gets to salute 5,000 sailors? Bad Mina bad.
