Vieux Chalet

We took the 12 noon mass and we we’re 10 minutes late because we took our time, waiting for each other.

Julienne waiting

It started pouring when we were waiting for our vehicle.

For a change, we went up to Antipolo after the Sunday Mass.
The rain and some baha here and there did not deter us from driving to Antipolo hills.

Lunch was at Vieux Chalet. Edmund suddenly felt nostalgic while entering the quaint Filipino cum Swiss chalet
Edmund—- I told myself I would never come back here.

Walking to Vieux Chalet

Vieux Chalet

That was 9 years years ago in 2003. We liked our first dining experience and went back the second time which turned out to be not so okay. It was very sunny and the sun’s rays were everywhere in the small dining area. There were a few flies and lots of mosquitoes. The biggest disappointment was that the dishes we went back for were not available. And the ones we had weren’t as good as the first time.

Here we are, here for the 3rd time.

They also have a cottage in the same compound called St. Moritz Cottage

After deciding long and hard on our food choices, we ordered and bammmm, “Sorry those are not available”. How about….? “I forgot to say that those are also not available”.
I snapped and made taray to their very loyal head waiter a.k.a. sous chef . “Sana tanggalin na sa menu yung mga wala dito kasi puro wala naman yung mga narito. Bigyan nyo na lang kami ng listahan kung anong meron kayo”.

No problem in having just a few available dishes, provided they just give us a list of the ones that they only have rather than giving us the big menu, letting us waste our time and effort choosing, wherein half of those listed are not available. That’s both frustrating and irritating.
I could read Edmund’s mind. (Sabi na nga ba hindi na ako babalik dito).

They did not have Osso Buco which we remembered was one of their specialty dishes. We ended up ordering pasta for Oyen, Edmund and I. My son had lamb. We tried the pork medallion which proved to be very very very good. The meat was cooked unbelievably soft, the texture did not feel like pork chop. I highly recommend this dish.

We ordered three different kinds of pasta. They all looked the same and tasted the same but they were good anyway.

The lamb according to my son was okay but not great.

Their dessert trio was divine and we had an encore. Their cheesecake? Oh, so so good.

I doubt very much if husband number one and only would be encouraged to go back. It might need some extra coaxing.
I am willing to go to Vieux Chalet again for their pork medallion and cheesecake. Their homemade butterscotch ice cream went very well with the cheesecake. Ooo I almost forgot to mention that the candied kalamansi that adorned the slice of cheesecake was tops! By the way, when dining at Vieux Chalet, be prepared to shell out a thousand five hundred per pax unless you would just order a small serving of pasta and free water.
