In 1883 Carl H. Wente bought 47 acres of land in the Livermore Valley. In 1912 his son Ernest Wente persuaded him to import Chardonnay cuttings from the vine nursery at the University of Montpellier in France. He also sourced cuttings from the Gier Vineyard in Pleasanton to produce what is now internationally known as the Wente Clone. Today more than 80 percent of Chardonnay stems in California came from this Wente clone.
Wente has since expanded their realm to include Arroyo Seco in Monterey, The Grill restaurant, an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Greg Norman, etc. Their multi-awarded wines are enjoyed by wine lovers and connoiseurs in 75 countries.
After 138 years, Fifth generation family members continue the Wente’s heritage and legacy.

Chardonnay: Morning Fog Chardonnay, Single Vineyard Riva Ranch Chardonnay, Small Lot Eric’s Chardonnay, and Nth Degree Chardonnay.

Meron ako tiga taste test ng wines kasi I don’t drink wine naman, ako lang mahilig bumili, usually pangregalo, at saka kung merong bisita sa bahay kung mahilig mag wine. Lumaki ako sa probinsya, hanggang ngayon even if I have been around the world, eat in fancy restaurants, villas, and palazzos and blessed to have dined at state functions, I still remain a probinsya girl. Hindi ako nagwa-wine. Mas gusto ko samalamig— buko juice o kaya gulaman at sago.

This sprawling lawn and garden is witness to countless wedding ceremonies and receptions held here whole year round as Wente estate becomes known as a beautiful wedding destination venue.

I feel like I am vacationing in a Spanish hacienda. I’d like to come back here when they have special events like concerts. It must be cool.

According to the guy who was looking at us while we were taking photos near the wine rack, this spot beside the big tree is one of the favorite photo spots during weddings. I wonder if it’s because of the tree’s beauty.
What a good day to just sit here all day long doing nothing but embracing the stillness of the surroundings away from the chaos of the outside world.
