3D ultrasound in St. Luke’s

First Opinion from Cardinal Santos Hospital

Breast Mass on the left side, maybe benign, Brads 3 Category

I went to St. Luke’s for a Second Opinion
St. Luke's Breast Center

I didn’t have an appointment, luckily they have an 11 am slot for breast ultrasound.

I get affected seeing young ladies suffer from breast disease. This pretty young Chinese lady was accompanied by her lola. I hope her biopsy’s benign.

I’ve been going back and forth hospitals for the past 3 weeks. I am sure when my credit card bill comes eh medyo madami-dami na.

I should bring my own hospital gown next time. Hundreds have worn this even if it had been washed and sanitized.

Female Radiology Technician saw something suspicious.

“Mam, tawagin ko lang yung doctor”.
“Umalis na pala mam, kukunan ko na langng  picture…”

A———- “What do you mean umalis na yung doctor? Di ba dapat merong on duty?”
Tech——- “Nag out for lunch na”.

I looked at my watch.
A———- “11:40 pa lang ah. Anong oras ba ang lunch break, di ba 12? Ang aga naman nyang mag-lunch”.

Doctors should not leave while there’s an on-going procedure kasi they would be next to diagnose the patients.

A———- “Saan ba sya kumakain, diba sa baba lang ang mga restaurant? paki text, iintayin ko, I will wait”.

She obliged “Mam, pabalik na daw po, 15 minutes”.

waiting for the radiologist

A male doctor entered the room within 15 minutes.
I am pissed-off when male doctors inspect by boobs. The older I get, I am becoming conservative (kuno). I wast left with no choice, nadyan na sya eh, Binuyang-yang na ang left breast ko for him to validate what the radiotech had seen.

What’s wrong with this hospitals? Women care, breast center, eh bakit lalaki ang doctors? Fourteen years ago, I experienced heavy bleeding. I was ordered to have a vaginal ultrasound. I was just dead worried about my condition I couldn’t complain. Doctors would argue, they see breast, pwet and prekprek every day. Wala daw malisya. Oh right. Tell me.

St. Luke’s male radiologist said there’s nothing. My problem is, he only checked that part, maybe in less than 2 minutes. Di ba dapat thorough checking? And he’s supposed to repeat the whole procedure. Ganun sa Cardinal Santos, the radiologist also scans the whole breasts.

I should be ecstatic that he said nothing, but I just want to be very sure that they’re accurate.

Didn’t see any lesion but advises me to have a mammography.

Two conflicting findings, I need a third opinion.

My past experiences during mammography doesn’t make me excited to go back.

I asked the doctor if St. Luke’s has a more modern machine that would not subject my precious dede to severe molestation and violence.

I guess I have no choice but to go thru the same trauma again. I will have breast augmentation first, papalakihin ko ng sobra ang dede ko para next time I go there, pag sabi ng technician na paki lagay sa machine, I would be ready “Ilang kilong dede ang gusto mo?”

St. Luke’s Medical Center’s facility is modern and their building doesn’t smell like a hospital. The nice surroundings and professional staff make sick people feel a little bit better. Hearing the piano music made me forget for a few minutes why I was there for in the first place.

I looked at the Mother and Child art exhibit at the hospital lobby while I waited for my van. In Cardinal Santos din, they always have paintings for sale at the lobby.

One of the women manning the exhibit tried very hard to convince me to buy this.
It’s very beautiful daw. ” Mahirap gawin nyan” she told me. Price is P120,000.  Nope, thank you.

  1. Hi ms.annie. If you want another opinion, i suggest dr.diane cua in makati medical arts building. She is a premier breast oncologist and will put your mind at rest. I too had a scare a few years back, but, after dr.cua said, thats nothing, i was able to sleep calmly for the first time in weeks. Now, i see her yearly.

That mosiac artwork you showed is made by someone i know from bacolod. She has beautiful works. Kaso nga, medyo pricey. Hehe…
