Discovered Breast Cancer thru self-examination

Doctors always remind us ladies to do self-examination. And this was how my relative found out that she has breast cancer. She was watching Pope Francis on tv and felt a tiny lump in her breast.
She went to Cardinal Santos Hospital and had a series of tests which confirmed that she indeed has it, Stage 2. She was very brave and decisive, immediately agreeing to have a mastectomy.

I visited her yesterday to see how she’s doing, how she’s coping and to give her moral support. I brought her chichirya from Santis.

Goodies from Santis

She’ll undergo four cycles of chemotherapy beginning next week and 18 x some high-falutin medical term for an intravenous drug that cost one million five hundred thousand pesos. I cannot understand why a tiny vial should cost P85,000 each in the Philippines. It could be a lot cheaper in India. My friends who had chemo purchased their medicines from legitimate pharmacies in India, at 60% off.

Lately I feel so nerbyos, parang masakit ito, kumikirot ito. Nakaka nerbyos talaga. naku Lord, please, I don’t want to get sick, please. I want to live healthy up to 85.

Her friend nga has Stage 4 cancer din. She’s been having moderate to severe back pains but ignoring it. After 6 months pa lang sya nag pa check up. Ayun Stage 4 na.

Let us all include my relative, her friend, young Enzo, in our prayers. Let’s pray for their healing. Let’s also pray for people (even strangers) who are suffering from any kind of sickness or pain.
May God’s white light shine upon them and take away their afflictions. May they overcome the discomfort, the anxiety, the pain. May they be blessed with the gift of long life.
This we humbly ask from you dear Lord, Amen.

to God be the glory

  1. AMEN to that, Ms Annie.. My sister in law also felt a couple of lumps on her breast 3 years ago.. Upon the advise of our family doctor, she underwent some form of surgery where they had to remove the lumps from her right breast, and also scrape some nodes off her armpits.. She was advised to have a series of follow up check ups, but she got traumatized from the surgery and scraping that she decided not to have another check up.. Sad to say, it made matters worse.. 🙁 She thought she felt much better NOT seeing her surgeon again, only to find out 2 years after that her cancer had spread.. 🙁 when she started having severe back pains, her doctors suggested a bone scan.. It was after a series of further tests that they discovered her cancer had spread to her bones.. Her cancer is now on Stage 3.. 🙁

She is now undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.. 🙁 Every month, she has to have blood transfusions (4 – 6 bags of blood) becoz her Hemoglobin level is running low, due to the series of chemo and radiation treatments she has to undergo monthly.. 🙁

She keeps saying that she is living on BORROWED TIME.. But we keep reassuring her that there is still HOPE and with God’s GRACE and INFINITE LOVE and MERCY, she will feel better.. 🙂

I have included your relative and her friend in my prayers, together with my sister in law.. May GOD BLESS US ALL, most especially those who are suffering from all kinds of illnesses.. May they find COMFORT and LOVE in GOD’S HEALING GRACES… <3

Have a great and stress-free week ahead, Ms Annie.. Take care and be safe and healthy always.. God bless ..

  2. Thank you Ms Annie for still remembering my son, Enzo to be included in your prayers. I am overwhelmed. May God continue to bless you.
