Last Sunday, Oyen and Derrick hied off to Tagaytay to test drive the Ford Escape. My son went mall hopping with his friend. My husband went to check the construction and bought some finishing supplies. Aha, home alone in the riles, so I went out too. I bought HP printer ink from Robinsons Galleria. I dropped one last raffle stub in Shang. Baka manalo ng condo. I also bought a few more slices of Lush. I know, I haven’t even finished a fraction of what my son gave me last Christmas. I used gift certificates. I still have a few thousand.
I ate mushroom soup with barley in Cibo, Shangrila Mall.
At syempre, the most important part of my trip to Shang is looking at the watches. I went to three stores.
I might as well live inside a watch store. Or I should work in a watch retailer or manufacturer, or better still, I might as well make my own watches.
I am so drawn by this time pieces. Siguro in my past life, I worked in a high end watch boutique.
Naalala ko lang kasi a few weeks ago, I caught a CNN interview with the president of Hublot, asking him what he thinks of the soon-to-be-launched I/watch.
He said Hublot is a collector’s watch with an average price of twenty five thousand dollars. It could last for a hundred or more years. He cannot compare this with a three or four hundred dollar watch. Hublot and I/watch will not compete with each other because they belong to very different market segments. One very high end, while the high tech and new generation watch has a different purpose and market.
