Shopping at the Market Hall

April 27, 2015 Monday, 2 pm

After a quick lunch of bread and cold cuts, our group split, kanya-kanyang shopping.

The souvenir items were on the second floor of the Market Hall opposite the food stalls.

My sister was able to buy a leather bag made in Florence, Italy.

Russian dolls are sold in every souvenir shop or gifts store. Hungary was occupied by the Soviets up until the late 80’s. The last troops left Hungary in 1991. Until now, the Russian influence is still very much evident in the Hungarian lifestyle.

I trained my guns on embroidered table cloths.

These are all handmade embroidery and they don’t come cheap.

When I see interesting salt and pepper shakers I get tempted to start a collection, kaya lang kakalat lang sa bahay.

I almost bought Edmund this baseball / golf cap. I was already holding it, ewan pero I thought of checking if indeed it was from Hungary. Made in China pala.
I returned it.

I bought one piece tiny porcelain saucer for souvenir. These are made in Hungary.

At the onset, parang excited kami magshopping. But after a while, we noticed that the items were the same. Not too many choices. Shopping in Budapest was fun because the prices were generally inexpensive, except for some items like the hand-embroidered linens.

These were cute stuff but highly breakable.
