My daughter flew to LA to be with her high school friend Therese. So I am left with my son. We went back to Island Pacific again. I made him drive instead although I was nervous. Visitors are allowed to drive for two weeks, just bring your Philippine driver’s license and passport.

We went to Southland Mall, walking distance from Aileen’s house. So many people today kasi it’s weekend. About 20 years ago, this mall was frequented by white people. Ngayon, all I see are Asians, Latinos and Blacks.
Southland has Macy’s, JCPenny, Sears plus the smaller shops like Forever 21, Ross, etc. There used to be a small bookstore but they closed shop which made me really sad. I always bought something from that bookstore whenever I visited this mall.

They charge by the weight, I paid $9.52 for the two of us, naparami yata kuha namin. The $10.48 is the sukli. Here in the US, stores are always ready to give sukli up to the last cent. Hindi paris sa Pilipinas, ang daming palusot ng mga tindera, laging kulang ang mga sukli. Ni ra-round-off pa to the nearest 25 or 50 centavos. Pagbibili tayo hindi naman pwede kulang ang bayad. Madadaya.
