Cecile is like a walking historian.  She knows every person living in their village, including their full names, who they are married to, what they are doing, their love life, etc.   She knows the names of the owners of the sugar cane fields, the hectarage,  where they are now, including their well-known relatives.

After our history drive-by tour, she was gracious enough to let us use the restroom in her beautiful house.  My husband is so aliw with her stories.

The big capiz chandelier came from her parents’ house.

She knows the history behind every stately-looking Spanish mansion in the city including people who existed long before she was born.

Tell her about the name of your suitor way back 40 years ago and within seconds she would tell you the guy’s lineage, where he lives, who is he married to, her parents’ names, what the wife is doing, their business.  She would even gladly volunteer to bring you to sample the food the wife is selling.   LOL.

Point to a house and her amazing memory would spring into action.   She would tell you who lived in that house before, who is currently living there,  when the house was sold, what happened to the original owners.  And an added bonus,  the full name, middle name, and name of the spouse of the person living in the neighboring house.

History of the restaurants?  She knows that too.  The owners, what transpired, how they flourished, of course, you can ask her and she would definitely come up with an answer.

My husband is so impressed with her incredible memory.

Are you looking for a guy na gi-nost ka?  Ask Cecile to help you locate that ghost.

———————

*gi-nost meaning:  new term when someone who used to call / text you suddenly disappeared, lost interest in you then suddenly stopped responding to your calls /text.  Parang nawala na lang na parang multo (ghost).

*binabol-  my new term for someone na akala mo interesado sa’yo yun pala hindi.  Naglaho na lang na parang bula (bubble).

  1. Hahaha…nakakahiya!!!! But i have the perfect explanation…i think its because i lived in bacolod all my life. Except for the 6 years of college in manila, bacalod has been homebase for me. Plus, i love listening to the stories of the oldies around the dining room table.

  2. You have a fantastic memory. You have a keen interest in people in a good way. You are amazing.
