October 7 Monday

This is my view every single time I plump my butt on the you know where. It’s the side window of my bathroom facing our neighbor’s huge garden.

Depending on the time of the year, I see birds rest on my window sill.

Today was quiet though I could hear very faint sounds of birds flapping their wings and chirping.
Rain’s gone and the sun’s rays were penetrating the thick foliage in our neighbor’s 1,600 square meter garden.

I stared at the window and said a little prayer. I was feeling anxious because my daughter and I were going to the doctor.

Our appointment was at 9 am. We arrived at the doctor’s clinic at 9:05 am.
Parang ang lungkot dito.

Dr. Charity Charisse Viado- Gorospe is a medical oncologist and St. Luke’s Medical Center’s Cancer Institute director. She was referred to us by a good friend.
We’re seeing her for monitoring and consultation.

This teddy bears must have been given to her by one of her patients.

She arrived at 10 am and we were ushered to a different clinic.
She noticed me first when I entered her clinic while I sat down inconspicuously on one of the chairs. Her first question was about my age. I told her I didn’t want people asking. And I also told her I am old na. She still insisted. I said 50+.
She spent the next 20 minutes interviewing me, anong nilalagay ko sa skin ko, who was my derma, etc. which made me so conscious. Kasi kala ko mukha akong bagong gising that morning, tila hindi pa pantay ang kilay ko at itinali ko lang ang buhok ko. kasi nagmamadali kami at baka ma-traffic. And I was dead worried about other more important things like health than how I looked.

She’s very nice actually and even recommended a good derma. Dapat daw pupunta sa derma. Her daughter daw is 15 and inaalagaan na ng derma.
Hindi naman ako nagpapa derma. She has no wrinkles and looks young. She said her classmates look much older and she validates her observation by showing their group pictures to her patients. She asks her patients daw kung sino ang mukhang bata sa picture. Pag itinuro sya, libreng Starbucks daw. She’s cute and funny.

She invited us to attend the seminar on breast cancer. Punta raw kami dahil merong mga artista or celebrities yata na speakers.

We noticed a young Chinese-Filipino couple seated at the next table. They were crying and looked really sad and worried. Both their noses were red which was a clear sign that they cried. The woman was wearing a cotton mask to cover her mouth.

Oyen and I felt uneasy. How we wished we could do something to ease their burden.
Someone is definitely sick that’s why they’re crying. Ganun pala ang feeling, parang gusto kong magka-super powers so I can magic all sick people and make them well. Aawayin naman ako ng mga doctors and hospitals, wala na silang pasyente.
