I didn’t sleep well last night. Hindi naman maingay yung neighboring rooms but I didn’t sleep soundly.

We’ve spent 7 nights in this room. Nothing happened because I wanted to prove to my husband that my intentions were pure and walang bahid na malisya. That he could sleep soundly at night without his wife taking advantage of his innocense.

This section facing the trees is supposed to be quieter than the rooms facing the courtyard. Duon ang feeling ko nasa Quiapo ako. I hear the kalatog ng mga pinggan from the restaurants, kwentuhan and laughter coming from the diners, the sound coming from the waterfalls. Sa una lang yang waterfalls nakakatuwa, after a while kulili na tenga ko. It becomes annoying, and noise to my ears.

On our second night here, the occupants of a room on the third floor were having a drinking session in the balcony. Their voices reverberated around our ears. I was hoping they would stop or at least tone down their kwentuhan by 12 midnight pero abah, ala una na, up to 1:30 ang ingay nila. I gave the front desk a call. I heard the room’s phone ringing, tapos merong nag-door bell sa kanila. I heard someone from the room reasoning out, siguro magpapalusot pa na hindi naman sila maingay.

The next night was quiet. Ay salamat. Then, the next day, our room started vibrating from children’s footsteps, laughters, screams, jumping on the beds. There’s a new occupant on the same floor adjacent to our room and mukhang hindi occupant, mukhang isang barangay. Ay swerte naman namin. In one room there seems to be at least 6 children plus adults. Pwede pala yun ang dami in one room. People are of course trying to save money on hotel accommodation so they book one room only and squeeze in as many people as possible. Nay ko po ang ingay nung mga bata. Edmund assured me “sa araw lang yan, mamaya matutulog na yung mga bata”. He was correct. The sounds and movements ended before midnight.

The next day I saw the hoousekeeping attendant cleaning that particular room. I asked him if the guests had checked out. Nagcheck out na daw. Oh my buhay salamat naman.

Oh my, I spoke too soon, another barangay with children checked in in the same room. Nay ko po ang ingay. They were jumping on the bed ang hitting the wall directly behind my headboard. I made sutsut like “shhhhhhhhhh, ssshhhhh”. Ewan if they heard me. Mukhang hindi because they didn’t stop. The good thing was, they stopped at exactly twelve midnight. Some older person told them to go to bed. Dapat naman kasi alas dose na mahahati na ang mga katawan ng bampira.

The next night, it was my husband who couldn’t sleep from the neighbor’s noise. Mga babae naman. The loud conversations were coming from another room below ours. Nagising lang ako when I heard Edmund called the front desk to complain.

The next night, I heard a gay neighbor directly asking the guys drinking at the balcony to please be quiet because they came to Baguio to relax. He said it in a very professional but friendly manner. The guys responded “oh–keyyy”.
