Dinner with Ginia Domingo

September 4, 2017 Monday

Ginia Domingo was surprised that we have a guest book at home.
Eh that’s proof that she was once here. It’s actually nice to flip through the pages of our guest book. It reminds us of our friends and relatives who shared with us their time.

Ginia and Edmund have known each other since her Ford days. She left Ford a few years ago to run the KIA vehicles distributorship in the country as president of Columbian Auto Car Corporation.

I was leaving for the US the next day and Monday was my only time left to meet with her. Instead of meeting at some restaurant, I just invited her to come over for dinner. It was already past 2 pm when we agreed to meet for dinner. I was in Makati and still had to go to four more places before going home.

At 4:30 pm, I swung by Rustan’s grocery to buy fish. We only have meat in the freezer and maybe Ginia prefers to eat fish. I saw the big king crab claws on a bed of ice at the seafood section in Rustan’s. I asked the guy if the claws are fresh, oo daw, Tatlong beses kong inulit yung tanong ko to make sure they are indeed fresh. I even smelled the crab. Wala namang amoy.

When I was steaming them, aba medyo the smell was no longer fresh.

I wanted to send the crab claws back to Rustan’s but my driver went home already. The next driver would be coming at 8 pm.

Antonia cooked pork and chicken adobo, fried lapu-lapu, meatballs soup.
Wala kaming handa, lutong bahay lang.

Ginia liked the meatballs soup and our dessert— super sweet fresh organic langka fruit from our tree, suman from Antipolo and buko sorbet. Since she likes langka, I gave her one small tray to bring home.

The next day, I returned what was left of the claws. I threw away a few pieces the night before.

In the past, when there’s something wrong with the items we bought from the grocery, I no longer send them back kasi hassle, ang layo, ang traffic, mahal ang gasolina. Minsan naman, the bagger or cashier fails to pack the item. This is the first time that I returned the bad items. I paid P862.78 sayang din yun.
