I am always home alone. My son is away. Daughter is with her Ateneo friends. Edmund went to play golf and is now having a foot massage.

Edmund told me the other day that he now finds our house too big. There are so many parts kasi that needs to be fixed. My bathroom, the dirty kitchen, the other parts that now have anay, our fence, the poso negro, Lucy’s play pen, etc.

Nakaka-stress din ang maintenance. And it’s expensive too. Smaller dwelling, lesser maintenance costs, lesser maids too.

Our electric bill this month is the highest so far. It’s twelve times what Malou and Luming pay for their electric bills. We save a lot of money if the air in Manila is more pleasant. No aircon needed. I can walk to the office too, if air is cooler.

I asked him kung mag-condo na lang kami. Hindi naman daw because we are probably not condo dwellers. We would get suffocated. Gusto namin may lupa, may trees, may birds.
Condo living is expensive too. The dues are multiplied by the size of your condo. And parking is limited. Sobrang mahal naman kung ang daming parking lots.

I don’t want to live in a condo and pay so much money for dues. Para akong nangungupahan.
And I don’t want the guards to stop my car from entering the parking basement in the event that I forgot to get car stickers. That happened to me several years ago in Tektite.

Grace sold her house in San Lorenzo Village and bought a big condo in Ayala. Down-grading daw because there are only two of them in the house. But her condo collects P35,000 a month for association dues. How is that downgrading?
