I wasn’t able to go to church on my birthday. Edmund and I had planned to visit the chapel early morning. I went to bed at 3 am and had trouble waking up early on my birthday. Edmund woke me up at 9:40 am and had to rush in getting ready for our family reunion. Edmund picked up the lumpiang shanghai, pork bbq from Island Pacific while I stayed and cooked the red prawns. He also bought a big plastic garbage bin from Lowe’s and bought tube ice and additional bottled water.

It totally skipped my mind that my niece in law, Jennifer, and her daughter Joey are vegetarians. We didn’t have any salad prepared for them so I sent Edmund to the nearby grocery to buy some salad.
He came back after almost an hour, with salads and two kinds of dressing.
I was worried Jen and Joey got hungry. I promise not to forget next time.

My husband always helps me prepare for the reunion. He accompanies me all the way from Manila to help with the preparations and to gamely join in the fun too.
Last year, even if he was so busy and nursing a bad cold, he surprised me by arriving on the night of May 26, in time for my birthday, and to help me with the reunion which was scheduled on May 29, 2016.
