I had several meetings last friday, all in the office. I interviewed an applicant for a Sales Manager position.
He was interviewed in August by Julienne but we didn’t have a job open for him that month.
I also met with two ladies who run their own home decorating company. They’re experiencing difficulties because of the big and more established companies importing goods from China by the containers. We talked about the many challenges of doing business in the Philippines. The expensive utilities, payroll, taxes, etc.

Lady 1 said that there are many who have a lot of money. She said there are Filipinos who buy expensive cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari. She asked “Where are they getting those money?”

Lady two said one time she was at the Louis Vuitton store in Greenbelt, she saw a woman paying cold cash for a P300,000+ handbag. The other lady, who personally knows the managers in the retail shops in the area such as Balenciaga, Prada, Ferragamo, Gucci, Burberry, Hermes, Bally, etc. said that according to the employees, they are able to meet their daily quota when the wives and girlfriends of some politicians shop. Quotang-quota daw sila.

Lady one said that while she was at the Hermes store, a woman came in shorts, and bought an Hermes bag for P1.2M. She learned that she’s a regular and valued client and is the girlfriend of a politician from the province.
